Commissioning Me
If you think my work would be well suited to your project I’d love to hear from you. Please send me over an email (I promise I’m very friendly! ) or/and complete my client questionnaire and I’ll get back to you.

If you are wondering how commissioning me normally works, here’s a quick explainer:
STAGE 1 - First Contact
Firstly, thank you so much for contacting me about your commission!
At this stage, I will be trying to understand exactly what commission you or your client have in mind.
It’s always helpful to provide as much detail as possible when first contacting me. For this reason, I have prepared a client questionnaire that asks a range of questions about your project.
Once you have submitted your responses, they will be sent directly to my email inbox. Your answers will give me a detailed overview of your illustration needs and enable me to put together an informed quote for the work required.
STAGE 2 - Contract Agreement
When I have a clear idea of your illustration needs and we have agreed a fee, timeline and terms, I will produce a contract for us both to sign. (If you or your client would rather use your own contract, then that is also fine.)
Once the contract is signed, the project is ready to go!
(If you need to adjust anything on the contract once the project has started, this may incur an extra fee.)
STAGE 3 - Drafts & Amends
At this stage, I will produce a pre-agreed number of draft illustration ideas for you to review. I normally sketch out each draft in pencil with a colour palette suggestion, but if you have something else in mind please specify this during the first stage.
Once you have reviewed the drafts, if you want me to make any changes, this stage will include time for a pre-agreed number of rounds of amends.
The aim of this stage is to produce a draft(s) that you are happy with!
Please see below for example draft illustrations!
STAGE 4 - Final Illustrations
I will send over the final illustration(s) by our agreed deadline.
Making small changes at this stage may be possible if we have agreed this beforehand, but this will also depend on the nature of your commission. For example, if the commission is a digital file, making edits will be easier than changing a physical painting.
I’m very happy to answer any questions about this process. Don’t hesitate to get in touch!
Example Project
This commission was for a feature investigating ‘nature-based solutions’ for dealing with excess rain water in BBC Wildlife Magazine. The article, by Andrew Griffiths, explored how we might ease the pressure on the UK’s old sewer system by building more rain gardens to prevent sewage from ending up in our water ways. The commissioner needed an editorial illustration that gave a clear visual representation of the positive impact rain gardens can have.
I produced three draft illustrations exploring themes discussed in the article. The second idea was chosen by the commissioner.
The final illustration can be seen below and by following this link to the article on BBC Wildlife’s website.
